Joint Replacement Center

Improving Quality of Life
At North Memorial, we know the goal of joint replacement surgery is ultimately to improve quality of life, allowing people who suffer from joint pain to return to a more normal lifestyle, and the activities they enjoy. That's why we have designed a joint replacement experience that is a goal-oriented, team-based process from pre-surgical education through recovery.

Joint Replacement Center
The Joint Replacement Center team includes specially trained and experienced board-certified orthopedic surgeons, nurses and physical therapists specializing in total joint care. Every detail, from pre-surgical teaching to post-surgical exercise, is reviewed with the patient.

Through our comprehensive program, we offer patients:

  • Pre-surgical classes
  • Renovated private rooms
  • Group-oriented physical therapy

Learn and Recover with the Support of Others
Patients at the Joint Replacement Center share much of their experience in a group setting, from pre-operative education to post-operative rehabilitation. Patients who participate in group education and physical therapy typically demonstrate quicker increase in mobility.

Family members or friends may serve as coaches, helping to provide motivation throughout recovery. Along with the patient, they learn how to perform home exercises that help lead to a faster return to normal activities.

Outstanding Outcomes
We studied several aspects of joint replacement care before and after launching the new Joint Replacement Center. Here are some measurable improvements:

  • Increased patient satisfaction
  • Patients are walking farther - and sooner - after surgery
  • Faster improvement in affected joint range of motion
  • Pain generally controlled with less medication
  • Reduced need for blood transfusions following surgery
  • Reduced length of hospital stay
