Osteoporosis Services - DEXA Scan
Camden Physicians - Plymouth has a state of the art screening device for the diagnosis of osteoporosis - the DEXA scan. The DEXA scan measures the density of bones of the spine, hip and wrist - the areas most often affected by osteoporosis. It is also used to follow gradual changes in the bones.
If you have questions about bone density, or if you have a family history of osteoporosis and think you may benefit from a DEXA scan, talk to your primary care physician. Your physician can discuss the procedure with you and determine if this screening is appropriate.
