Behind every image…
the person we care for
The mission of North Memorial's Imaging Services is simple: the patient is the primary focus. Technological advancements and ongoing employee education and training help provide high quality imaging services and patient care.

Whether it's the scheduled PET/CT scan of a cancer patient or an emergency x-ray of a severe trauma victim, keeping patients comfortable and informed is our first priority. Our goal is to maximize treatment while minimizing a patient's time commitment and discomfort.

Inpatient Imaging Services

Referring physicians and patients have access to inpatient radiology services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A centralized scheduling staff is available 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 763-520-5330.

Outpatient Imaging Services

Located just down the street from North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, at 3435 West Broadway, the Outpatient Imaging Center provides convenient care in a unique healing environment.

With patient convenience a priority, all imaging appointments are scheduled in advance. With an order from your physician, appointments can be booked by your clinic's scheduler or by yourself, giving you control to fit them into your busy schedule.

Services include: MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and computerized radiography.

With the addition of all digital imaging technology, patients don't have to carry films from appointment to appointment, and images can be viewed on monitors, stored in an archive system, printed on film and burned to CDs.

The Outpatient Imaging Center's scheduling office is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. All imaging exams require a completed order faxed to the scheduling office at 763-520-4153. When this step is complete, either the clinic scheduler or the patient can call for an appointment.

Services

  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

An MRI machine creates cross-sectional images of the body without the need for radiation. An MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves and is an extremely effective way of evaluating a variety of medical conditions.

Short-bore scanners reduce feelings of claustrophobia while maintaining high quality imaging. MRI technologists make safety a priority by screening all individuals for possible metal in or on the body before entering the MRI area.

  • CT (Computerized Tomography)

CT scans create detailed images of the body's soft tissue, including blood vessels, muscle tissue and organs. The CT department provides advanced multi-slice scanning abilities to produce cross-sectional images of the body.

  • Ultrasound

Ultrasound utilizes high frequency sound waves to look at certain areas of the body. Examinations include obstetrics, gynecology, abdominal and vascular imaging.

  • Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine offers diagnostic examinations for bone, GI, pulmonary, parathyroid and tumor. These images are obtained using a large camera to detect radioactive isotopes in the body.

  • PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography)

PET/CT provides full Positron Emission Tomography and CT scanning ability. PET scanning involves the injection of an isotope which identifies areas of increased glucose activity. These areas of increased activity indicate rapid cell growth and potential tumors. Images from both exams can be fused to provide a high level of accuracy in diagnosing tumors.

  • Computerized Radiography (CR-general x-ray)

Electronic images have taken the place of film for imaging bone, chest and abdominal structures. An x-ray machine is used in combination with a CR unit to accomplish digital images that can be viewed on a monitor, printed on laser film or burned to a CD.
