Need to Schedule a Sports Physical?

Many sports programs require a sports physical before a child can begin a new competitive season. These physical exams help determine if it's safe for an individual to participate in a given sport.

There are two main parts to a sports physical, the medical history and the physical exam. The medical history portion includes questions about family history, previous hospitalizations or surgeries, allergies and past injuries. The physical exam includes a record of height and weight, vision test, a check of the heart, lungs, ears, nose and throat and an evaluation of posture, joints, strength and flexibility.

Your child should have a sports physical a few weeks before the season begins, in case any follow-up or further testing is needed. Your primary care physician or local urgent care can perform a sports physical.
